What’s better than a warm bowl of oatmeal on a chilly morning? With coffee of course ☕️ (Check out our coffee hacks if you haven’t already!) It’s hearty, healthy, and can keep you satisfied until lunch! It’s perfection.
Oatmeal is also a great option because there are soooo many flavor combinations you can do! You can go sweet, savory, or anywhere in between. And making it yourself is a great alternative to pre-packaged oatmeal, which can be full of sugar and artificial ingredients. Healthy swaps for the win! 🥳
Today we're going to give you oatmeal 4 ways: mixed berry, peanut butter banana, apple cinnamon, and chocolate strawberry. That way you can make a big batch of oatmeal on Sunday, and play with all the different toppings each day of the week!
Let’s get to it!
1. Make a pot of oatmeal per the package instructions.
Use your favorite kind of oats – there’s no wrong answer here. Steel cut, old fashion oats, instant oats… Do what works for you. We also like to stir in 1 tbsp of brown sugar & 2 tbsp of maple syrup at the very end of the cooking process just to add some yumminess!
Mixed Berry Oatmeal
1 cup cooked oatmeal
1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
This is probably the simplest of the 4 ways to serve your oatmeal! All you have to do is grab a bag of your favorite frozen mixed berries, pour 1/2 cup into your bowl, scoop your hot oatmeal on top of the berries, and mix them together. That’s it! We told you it was simple 😉
The berries will thaw from the hot oatmeal, but will still have a good texture to them. If you want them thawed even more, you can pop the berries into the microwave for 30 seconds! You’ll get all those yummy juices that will flavor the oatmeal 😍 Absolute perfection.
Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal
1 cup cooked oatmeal
1 tbsp peanut butter
1/2 banana, sliced
1 tbsp crushed banana chips
We like to keep things simple here at Fit Fierce & Female, so this one is also quick and easy! Heat up your oatmeal, mix in the peanut butter, and top it with banana & banana chips! If you want to swap out banana chips for peanuts that would also be delicious – Anything to give you that crunch!
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
1 cup cooked oatmeal
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 green apple, diced
This one is a classic! And totally feels like fall for us 🍂🍏 Heat up your oatmeal, sprinkle cinnamon (measure with your heart, but about 1 tsp is good), and top it with diced green apples. We like granny smiths for this, but use your favorite apples!
Chocolate Strawberry Oatmeal
1 cup cooked oatmeal
1/2 cup strawberries, sliced
1 tsp dark chocolate chips
Chocolate-covered strawberries meets oatmeal 🍫🍓 What else could you want?! Frozen or fresh strawberries work here, use whatever is available. If you have cacao nibs or anything like that instead of dark chocolate chips, that also works!
So many delicious options here… Which one will you try first?
